First Missionary Baptist Church supports the nation of Israel.
We believe God made a direct promise in Genesis 12:3. "And I will bless them that bless thee, and curse him that curseth thee: and in thee shall all families of the earth be blessed."
We believe that those who are friendly/supportive to Israel will be blessed of God. Likewise, those who are hostile towards Israel God will punish.
We believe that the nation of Israel was God's original chosen people (Deuteronomy 7:6-11). God gave Israel the Law and commanded them to live obedient lives and be His representative on earth. Sadly, Israel rejected Christ as their Messiah. God then gave the responsibility of preaching the Gospel to the local, New Testament church (Romans 11:13-24).
We also believe that God will receive Israel once again and that Israel herself will repent as a nation, and acknowledge Jesus Christ as their Messiah. Jeremiah 31:31-34. We believe this will occur and be fulfilled during the Great Tribulation, the 7 year period of time in between the Rapture and the physical return of Jesus Christ.
We further believe that God (as Sovereign ruler) has given the land of Israel to the people of Israel (Genesis 13:14-18). Furthermore, we believe that Israel today occupies much less land than God originally gave them. However, in the future, they will have the full extent of the land God originally gave to Abraham (Ezekiel 48). We do not believe Israel should be forced or pressured into giving up land for peace.
We don't believe that God is done with Israel. Thus, we believe that the United States government should be fully supportive of the nation of Israel. Additionally, the United States government should not support the enemies of Israel.
We pray for the people of Israel and the peace of Jerusalem (Psalm 122:6).
